All levels welcome

Most of us use a paring knife every day, but how many of those knives are dull, mass-produced, and plastic? In this three-day workshop, you’ll use rugged and real materials to forge a paring
knife that can last you the rest of your life.

Students will dive deep into the fundamentals of bladesmithing: how to forge, normalize, harden, and temper carbon steel; how to grind a blade with thoughtful, keen edge geometry; and how to fashion a comfortable wooden grip.

Paring knives are subtle and refined, and mastering their construction requires careful attention to detail. This class welcomes determined beginners, and will challenge intermediate-level students to refine their forging, fit, and finish skills.
