All ages welcome!

The Metal Museum hosts Community Days twice a year. Admission is free, and visitors of all ages can explore exhibitions, take part in hands-on activities, and experience live demonstrations across the Museum. Sign-up for scratch blocks ahead of time today!

Storytime

Ages 3-7 (+guardian)

Bring your little one for a fun morning of reading and hands-on activities! Storytime takes place on the second Saturday of each month beginning this fall.

S.T.E.A.M. Saturday

Ages 6-10 (+ guardian)

S.T.E.A.M. Saturdays invites young learners to explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, art, and math through hands-on fun! Held on the first Saturday of each month beginning this fall at the Metal Museum at Overton Park, each session combines creative artmaking with simple science activities inspired by metalwork.

Forging the Future

High school students, ages 15-18

Forging the Future is the Metal Museum’s afterschool welding program for high school students. Students create metal artworks, learn real studio skills, and build a path to paid creative work. After completing the program, students will leave with employable skills, such as tool care and quality standards, as well as a starter portfolio. They’ll also gain a clear view of local training pathways and creative careers in metals.

J.A.M. Sessions

High school students, ages 15-18

Jewelry, Art, and Metal: An After-School Teen Program at the Metal Museum. Create jewelry and metal artworks, acquire real-world metalworking skills, and establish a path to paid creative work. Students will learn fine metal skills, including sawing, filing, texturing, annealing, soldering, forming, and cold connections, as well as quality control, pricing basics, simple product photography, and portfolio building.

Sip + Smith

Must be 21+

Unwind, create, and connect during this after-hours evening class. With complimentary refreshments included, participants will explore low-tooling techniques in the Education Wing while enjoying a relaxed and social atmosphere. Bring a date, invite friends, or make it a memorable group outing!
